What is ‘Living Brass’?
Instead of being clean and polished like the brass you might be used to, our Living Brass changes as it reacts to the world around it.
When it comes into contact with water, the brass oxidises and starts to form individual dark spots. Over time, these spots will grow, meld together and generally darken the finish of your fixtures. Eventually, it will take on a soft, layered effect called a ‘patina’.
It truly is beautiful.
Why choose brass?
Brass is an alloy made of copper and zinc. We use it as the base material for all our products because it’s strong, forms well into different shapes and is perfect for electro-plating with special finishes.
What does that mean for your bathroom? Well, that it’ll last for many years to come.
The authentic look
Other than some serious elbow-grease to hand-polish the brass to a lovely smooth finish before it gets to you, there are no coatings, chemicals or treatments on our Living Brass.

How to care for your Living Brass
The good news is, you don’t need to do a lot. The whole point of Living Brass is to leave all those lovely water spots on there.
It is wise to clean it, however, just to make sure you’re getting rid of limescale and dirt.
The best way is to rub it very gently and as often as you can with a slightly damp, soft, lint-free cloth. If you rub too hard or use any chemicals, you risk removing the developing patina and going back to the polished brass finish underneath.
If you really want to start again and go back to fresh polished brass, we’d recommend Brasso or a similar specialist brass-polishing product and following the guidelines they give.
